Roomba 675 vs 690: Budget-Friendly App-Controlled Robot Vacuums

I’d like to compare the Roomba 675 vs 690 to highlight the strengths and reveal the downsides of two very similar models from the 600s series. The affordable vacuums feature Wi-Fi connectivity, Alexa compatibility, and 90-minute runtime.

Suction and dustbin capacity

The comparison of the Roomba 690 vs 675 has revealed the vacuums’ same suction power of 600 Pa. This is enough to pick up most hair, crumbs, dust, and other dirt from the floors. However, they still leave some debris because of the weak airflow (9 CFM for the 675 and 7 CFM for the 690).

The 690 is fitted with a larger trash container of 0.7L versus the 675’s 0.35L. The latter may require interrupting the cleaning session to empty the bin, even during the operation in a small room.

Using area

The robotic vacuums are designed to work on all types of surfaces in the house. The 690’s cleaning area is 1,000 sq. ft, and the 675’s one is 1,800 sq. ft. Their iAdapt 1.0 navigation makes them move randomly. Nevertheless, the Dirt Detect tech and the dedicated mode to remove spots help the robots cover 100% of space and concentrate on the dirtiest areas. Those who want to block off specific places may use virtual walls with the Halo mode included (it creates the keep-out zone up to 4 feet around the items you want to protect).

Noise level

The iRobot Roomba 675 vs 690 operation is not quiet. The 675 buzzes at the level of 65 dB that is a bit above average but not deafening. The 690 is very loud, producing 68 dB of noise.

Carpet cleaning

The iRobot 675 vs 690 test on soft coverings has shown that both units pick up hair, sand, and other debris from rugs well. Their bristle-styled central brushes get tangled in hair often and require cleaning.

Roomba 690 Pros & Cons

Pros

  • The unit has a dual virtual-wall barrier in the pack.
  • It adapts to the surfaces well. It never gets stuck on thresholds or when going over the rugs’ edges.

Cons

  • It doesn’t recognize obstacles sometimes and may bump into them full-speed.
  • There is no opportunity to login into an app using the existing account. It’s necessary to create a dedicated one only for this app.

Roomba 675 Pros & Cons

Pros

  • The integration with Alexa is easy and features no interruptions.
  • It is fitted with a HEPA filter that is not typical for entry-level models.

Cons

  • The item sometimes can miss some spots in the room.
  • It occasionally gets lost on its way to the dock station.
