Roborock S6 Pure vs S5 Max: Smooth Floor Cleaner vs Rug Cleaner

The Roborock's S5 Max and S6 Pure are two popular robot vacuum cleaners that are so identical most users find it challenging to choose between them. That is why I have created this Roborock S6 Pure vs S5 Max comparison.

The Roborock S5 Max has a 2-in-1 cleaner with a No-mop Zone that stops it from mopping carpeted areas. After my review period, I can say that the S5 is ideal for pet owners because it can pick pet hair without damaging the brush roll. The S6 Pure is more suitable for smooth floors and tiles that require regular mopping.

Suction and dustbin capacity

When you compare Roborock S5 Max and S6 Pure suction power, you will not find a noticeable difference. Both robots start at a lower suction power but ramp it up to 2000 Pa once they drive onto a carpet area.

The S6 Pure has a dust cup that can hold up to 480 ml of dirt, while the S5 Max has a capacity of 460 ml. I only had to empty the bins thrice a week for both devices.

Using area

I believe the Roborock S6 Pure vs Roborock S5 Max water tanks make the difference between their use areas. Although the manufacturer claims the S5 Max covers 2000 square feet versus the 2150 square feet of the S6 Pure, I had a different result. The S5 Max mopped larger areas than the S6 Pure in my test, as in the S6 Pure peaked at around 1900 square feet.

Noise level

Roborock's vacuum cleaners are usually quite noisy. Anybody comparing the Roborock S5 Max vs S6 Pure sounds will note that the S6 Pure is quieter, thanks to its sound screen. I also think it has to do with the fact that the S6 Pure is a more recent device. The S5 Max produces sounds reaching 60 decibels, while the S6 Pure's loudest point was at 58 decibels.

Carpet cleaning

The Roborock S5 Max is perfect for cleaning pet hair on low-plies carpets. I noticed that the S6 Pure cleaned hard floors well but struggled with rugs and upholstery, unlike the S5 Max. The S6 Pure generally flunked my carpet test, leaving crumbs behind as it zipped around the rug faster than the S5 Max. However, I will commend how thoroughly it sucked up pet fur and shedding.
