Janome HD1000 vs HD3000: Simple Model vs Its More Advanced Version

In this Janome HD1000 vs HD3000 review, we will compare two heavy-duty sewing machines from the middle price range. The models have an 8-year difference with HD300 being a newer, more expensive, and more advanced model.

Dimensions

If you compare Janome HD3000 vs HD1000 dimensions, you will notice that the HD1000, which is sized at 8.5 x 18.25 x 15.25 inches is smaller than the HD3000 which has dimensions of 10 x 19 x 14.7 inches. And, obviously, it’s also heavier (10.6 pounds vs 9.9 pounds).

The workspace provided in both models is almost identical: the HD1000 has 6.4 x 4.7 inches while the HD3000 has 6.5 x 4.6 inches.

Features

The HD3000 has more pre-installed stitches than the HD1000 (14 versus 18) as well as feed dog pieces (3 versus 7). The HD1000 also doesn’t have a foot pressure adjustment while the other model does provide such a feature. This allows for much better control over the sewing process. In addition, the top bobbin loading offered by the more recent model is more practical than the front bobbin loading offered by its rival.

The Janome HD 1000 vs 3000 comparison revealed that these machines share many characteristics. For example, both of the compared machines have manual tension control and are equipped with an automatic needle threader. They also have the same maximum stitching speed of 860 SPM.

Design

The first thing that should be noted in the Janome HD1000 vs Janome HD3000 design comparison is that the body of both units is made mainly of aluminum, so they are clearly built to last. The HD3000 looks thinner compared to the HD1000 which seems a bit bulky.

The older model has a reverse stitch lever, stitch lengths, and pattern selection dials on the front. Its competitor has a pattern selection dial on the left side, and reverse stitch button, and stitch lengths dial on the front.

Conclusion

After this Janome HD3000 vs HD1000 comparison, I believe the HD3000 is superior to the HD1000 since it has more functions and a more practical design that gives sleeker control over the sewing process. However, if you are not looking for extra options, and just want to save more money, you will probably benefit more from the HD1000.
