The iRobot Roomba 675 review highlights the features and sheds light on weaknesses of an entry-level robotic vacuum. This is a cleaning robot with a Wi-Fi and app control capability, an extended battery life of 90 minutes per charge, and easy maintenance.
This model is 13.4 across and 3.5 inches high. A lightweight device (6.8 pounds) is easy to carry around the house for both senior people and children. The dust container is very small, having a capacity of only 300 ml. So, the user will have to manually empty the bin several times per cycle if it is about cleaning the entire house or apartment.
The Roomba 675 makes random passes around the room, entirely covering all the areas in the room for nearly 30 minutes. The branded Dirt Detect tech works as a sensor that can detect if it’s going over a particularly dirty area. If it is so, the vacuum makes several circles on this specific area. It defines the obstacles touching them slightly that leaves no scratches on the unit. The cliff sensors prevent the device from falling down the stairs.
The vacuum copes well with the deep cleaning of carpets thanks to the dual roller-brush system. One of the brushes in the center is rubber while the other has long bristles to grab all the pet hair on the rugs. Such a design allows the vacuum to remove pet hair, sand, and other types of debris.
In my Roomba 675 review, I should note that this model is not as good on hard floors as on rugs since it makes several passes within a single area to remove dirt. In this way, it takes more power and time to get rid of all the debris from hardwood, tile, or laminated floors. Besides, it spends much power on high-pile carpets and recognizes black rugs and floors as pits. In the latter case, the vacuum tries to go round them, like other obstacles.
It’s possible to start and stop the robot, check its battery life and status, get notifications, and set the scheduled cleaning through the downloaded mobile app. One can also connect the device with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for voice control. The Roomba 675 manual explains how to set, delete, and change schedules. Besides, it tells how to maintain this model after each run. One can easily release the dust container with a single press of a button.
The Roomba 675 is a round-shaped device with an ergonomic handle on the top. It has the Clean/Power button to manually launch the robot, the Dock and Spot buttons in the center. The bin release button and infrared sensor to let the vacuum see the obstacles are at the edges.
It has cliff sensors, two directional wheels at the sides, and one removable caster wheel in the center of its bottom. A power cord, docking station, and extra filter are in the package. It would be great to see a couple of spare side brushes there.
The iRobot Roomba 675 meets the requirements of those looking for a budget-friendly device with some smart features. The small dust container isn’t an issue if it comes to everyday cleaning of a single medium-sized room. The 100% removal of hair on short notice matches the pet owners’ needs.
