Brother SE1900: Computerized Sewing and Embroidery Machine
One of the most significant features of the Brother SE1900 is its spacious 5 x 7 inches field for embroidery, which is significantly larger than that of other sewing machines. As a multi-purpose model, it has a convenient, computerized interface and a plethora of features.
Dimensions
When I received the box, it weighed nearly 40 pounds, including all of the accessories. The sewing machine itself weighs 22 pounds. As for the size, the model measures 23.2 x 13.4 x 11.5 inches.
Features
This machine provides a lot of options that can significantly simplify your work with large and difficult projects. There are 138 built-in embroidery designs and 240 stitches that will work for many crafty needs. Plus, there are also 10 one-step buttonhole styles.
The model has a maximum sewing speed of 850 SPM and a maximum embroidery speed of 650 SPM (note that the last one can't be adjusted). It's especially useful when working with thin, stretchy fabrics. In addition, it can be used for both horizontal and side stitching.
The Brother SE19000 is a great upgrade of the popular SE400 version that is 8 years older. The previous model is also computerized, but it lacks a USB port and has a non-color, non-touchscreen display.
Anyone who knows how to use a smartphone will find the model's interface simple to use. You can see and change the color of threads, edit your embroidery designs, and so on using the large (3.2-inch) color LCD touchscreen. It also shows error messages and the status of the machine. By the way, you can adjust the screen's brightness for your convenience. You can import any embroidery designs from our PC to the machine using the USB port.
The Brother SE1900 threader is automatic. It appears to be especially convenient when working with embroidery designs that require a lot of thread color changes. But it's not just the threader that's automated. There are also:
- automatic reverse or reinforcement stitches
- automatic thread trimming
- automatic tension adjustment
Among all the Brother SE1900 accessories, there are 8 versatile sewing feet. However, the walking and quilting feet are not included. There are also a set of needles of mediocre quality, which may break due to high speed. I recommend replacing them with titanium ones.
Unfortunately, there is no software provided in the kit. Thus, if you want to create your own designs, you'll need to buy software separately.
The machine provides almost all the features that you may need for complicated embroidery projects. However, it falls short in terms of accessories, so I give it a 9 out of 10.
Design
The Brother SE1900 sewing and embroidery machine is well-built and durable since its chassis is made of metal. It also has a nice, white finish. The on-top controls are hidden under the flip-up cover. The screen is located on the right side of the front panel. Right below it, there are two rows of touch-sensitive buttons. The speed control slider and physical control buttons are situated on the right. There is also a work light that can be turned on if you need better visibility.
The unit has a traditional, time-tested Brother design, and I have no complaints about it. As a result, it receives a perfect score of 10 out of 10.
